In case you haven't heard, Silhouette Cameo 3 is coming! The features of the new cutting machine includes the following:

- Improved Touchscreen (and also that Load Media and Load Cut Mat replaced by a single Load button!)

Besides a new cutting machine, Silhouette will also be introducing some other new cutting materials like Printable Vinyl, Printable Window Cling (Clear & White), Wood Paper Sheets, Shrink Plastic Sheets (White & Clear), Metallic Vinyl, and Sticker Sample Packs (for planner addicts!!).

Oh, one more thing.....Silhouette Studio 4 is coming. *shudder*

  1. How exciting ...the self-adjusting blade especially. And I share your shudder at the idea of updating Studio!

  2. WOW! Any improvement in cutting force? I said I would not buy another until this was improved. And I'm with you..."oh no" on the SS4...Wish we could get lucky and SS4 will have increased functionality of SS3 *tongue firmly implanted in cheek* but with the ease and deliciousness of 2.9xx which I STILL love....

Thanks for the heads up! :)

    1. just like our phones, cars, kitchen appliances..... I personally only get the latest and greatest when my old things breaks down. But with the cameo it paid it'self off in about 2 weeks so no problem when I want to upgrade, but I am waiting still have the original and does almost everything the new ones do for me.

  5. Clearly an answer to the Explore which I use, but I still prefer my Cameo. I liked the idea of a double carriage when the Explore first came out but it turns out I almost never use it. I liked the idea of Bluetooth but I only use it when I am using my Cricut app and unless Silhouette seriously overhauls their app I won't be using my iPad with my Silhouette any time soon. I don't care about a touchscreen and the one thing I would change about my Explore is to have more control over actual blade depth so I am not thrilled with Silhouette going that route. The one thing that could get me excited about a new Silhouette is if it had a lot more cutting power and could handle thicker materials.

As far as the new software is concerned, I tried to update to the Cloud 3.7 version and it was a disaster so I am not looking forward to another fiasco that just ends in me downgrading again so I can use the machine again. That said, if they can get the Cloud to work well for everyone and they add some valuable features (I would love an automatic color sync like Cricut Design Space and the ability to save as SVG, for example) I would upgrade happily.

  7. I totally get it, Silhouette is a business, HOWEVER, if the customer is not happy with the "improvements" eventually you will say goodbye to your business... Summary: Silhouette, pay attention to the needs of the uses... if you still want to have a prosper future...

    1. All of my needs have been met with the new features... what else do you want?

  8. Although lots of new features, increased cutting depth is at the top of my list for desireable features. I also have the Cricut Explore which I hardly ever use because I love the Silhouette Software (up until last update, and even then, except for library issues, I still prefer it). If it can cut regular thickness craft foam cleanly (I use the Dollar Tree Foam mostly now since I can cut with the Cameo 2) but would like the thicker more dense foam to cut cleanly in intricate cuts as well. If the new one will do this, I will be all over it.
